No Fee Unless You Win
Recently, the Madison-St. Clair Record featured a story concerning a Madison County court case involving a man alleging he was exposed to asbestos while at work. Per the report, the man is claiming he suffered asbestos exposure while working for power houses, including John Crane Inc., Crown, Cork & Seal USA Inc. and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.
As a result of asbestos exposure, the victim developed non-malignant bilateral pleural plaques, which is an asbestos-related disease according to his complaint. He and his wife filed the asbestos exposure lawsuit because they claim that his various employers unnecessarily used asbestos in their products despite knowing the dangers. The husband and wife have accused the companies of using asbestos in their products even though there were suitable substitutes available. In addition, the couple claims that the manufacturers did not provide proper warnings and training about how to avoid inhaling asbestos fibers.
Asbestos exposure can lead to severe health problems and even death. In many cases, asbestos-related diseases do not surface until decades after exposure. The most common asbestos-related diseases include asbestosis, lung cancer and an incurable form of cancer known as mesothelioma. Asbestos exposure is not always limited to a worker. If a worker wears home clothing that is covered in asbestos fibers, his or her family could be exposed as well. This is called secondhand asbestos exposure, and can lead to the same diseases as direct exposure to asbestos.
Asbestos exposure lawsuits provide victims and their families with a way to hold those at fault for their pain and suffering accountable, while also providing them with the financial help they need for medical treatment and other expenses.
