Michael B. Marker

Bio

Michael Marker has been practicing law for nearly twenty years, primarily in Missouri and Illinois courts. Originally from Memphis Tennessee, Michael graduated from Washington University School of Law in 1989. Michael clerked on the Missouri Court of Appeals for the late Judge Harold L. Satz from 1989 to 1990. Michael has handled appeals throughout his career, including criminal, products liability, wrongful death, FELA (railroad injury), Jones Act (injuries to seamen), medical malpractice, legal malpractice, asbestos and other toxic substance exposure, workers’ compensation, intestate succession (will contests), insurance coverage, and civil rights cases. In recent years, Michael has concentrated his practice on class and other collective actions, including representing workers seeking overtime pay, consumers defrauded by deceptive practices or injured by defective products, residents exposed to toxic substances, and consumers victimized by other allegedly unfair practices in the tobacco, telecommunications, and pharmaceutical industries, among other matters.

Michael, a former partner in Marker Armstrong, LLP, and a former principal member of The Rex Carr Law Firm, is pleased to maintain an Of Counsel relationship with both The Rex Carr Law Firm and Walton Telken, LLC. Michael is also proud of his relationship with two 2-year olds: Jack, Michael’s nephew, and Hobbes, Michael’s full-blooded English Bulldog. Michael also has abiding affections for poetry (where his tastes run from William Butler Yates to Langston Hughes), public policy-making, and foreign languages (a continuation of his college major in German, French, and Spanish).
