Pradaxa is an anticoagulant medication taken by mouth. Pradaxa is designed to reduce the risk of a blood clot forming. Pradaxa is prescribed to patients with atrial fibrillation (A-Fib), deep vein thrombosis (DTV) and pulmonary embolism. However, Pradaxa can cause serious bleeding injuries that can lead to hospitalization and even, death. In October 2015, the Food and Drug Administration approved Praxbind, an antidote to stop patients from bleeding due to Pradaxa ingestion.
