No Fee Unless You Win
Alan G. Pirtle has successfully represented clients in injury and wrongful death cases for more than 30 years.
Alan began his career as a young lawyer in a general practice law firm. There he handled litigation and bench and jury trials of personal injury cases, criminal cases, will contests, product liability, business disputes, and civil rights cases in state and federal courts.
Later in his career, Alan has successfully handled many types of high-stakes injury and death cases involving motor vehicle and truck crashes, medical malpractice, product liability, premises cases, nursing home neglect, civil rights cases, and police pursuits in state courts in Illinois and Missouri and in Illinois federal courts.
Alan’s significant recoveries over the years have included substantial jury verdicts and cases resolved at or before trial including a multi-million dollar recovery in a complicated police car pursuit case, many millions recovered in trucking and motor vehicle crash cases, millions recovered for a child who was badly injured by a defective firework, millions for injuries caused by defective products or dangerous premises, and several million recovered in medical malpractice and nursing home neglect cases.
In a trucking injury case involving severe permanent injuries to his client, Alan was sole lead counsel throughout federal trial court proceedings and then he was co-counsel when that case was appealed. In 2026, Alan’s case resulted in a 9-0 unanimous victory before the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) in the most important trucking industry case ever decided by SCOTUS. Because of the SCOTUS decision in Alan’s case, freight brokers across the nation can now be held responsible when people are injured or killed because brokers knew or should have known that the truck companies and drivers that the brokers put on the highways had poor safety records.
In 2026, Alan Pirtle was unanimously appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to serve on that court’s Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism. Alan is one of only 14 lawyers, law professors, and judges in Chicago and the State of Illinois who serve as Commissioners.
Over the years, Alan has given continuing legal education (CLE) seminars to lawyers on civil practice and evidence topics.
Every year since 2022, Alan Pirtle has been elected to “Best Lawyers in America” in plaintiff personal injury law. Other lawyers in the St. Louis region voted on secret ballots to name Alan to this list. St. Louis Magazine has named Alan a “Top Lawyer” each year since 2022.
Alan has been named a “Top Ten Trucking Trial Lawyer” and a “Top 100 Personal Injury Lawyer”. He also belongs to the Multi-Million-Dollar Advocates Forum.
When not practicing law, Alan likes spending time with his wife, their rescue dog, and their young adult children. Alan also enjoys advising political campaigns and donating time and resources to women’s cancer research and support organizations and animal shelters.
